Pieces made of ivory or containing elements of ivory come from pre-convention specimens, prior to 1 March 1947 and conform to EC Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art. - pending the application of Decree No. 2017-1583 of 17 November 2017 published in the OJ of 19 November, which completes the regulatory framework for trade in ivory and rhinoceros horn manufactured before 1947 and which provides for certain modalities of the Declaration provided for by the Order of 4 May 2017 for trade in this type of objects. The computer system of the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, which should make it possible to make this declaration through the i-CITES application, is not yet operational.
