Spotted Crake (Porzana porzana) (CE): naturalized specimen on wooden base with green label indicating "Porzane" and label under the base and old calligraphy indicating "Porzane marouette mâle adulte Porzana maruetta plumage de printemps exemplaire tué le 8 avril 1876 près Cholet Maine et loire"; naturalized before 1900 Species not listed in the Washington Convention (CITES), in European Community Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 and prior to the application of the French Environmental Code. Specimen sold as is Expert : COMBREXELLE Michaël Former collection of Mr. Gardonne LEBRAULT (1881-1956), a butcher and caterer in Saint-Maixent-l'Ecole and a taxidermist in his spare time, a discipline he practiced from 1910 to 1950. In 1910, he had the opportunity to acquire an important collection of avian, mammalian and ichthyological specimens naturalized between 1845 and 1900, which are notably presented in this sale. He enriched his collection with other specimens naturalized between 1900 and 1953. On his death, his entire collection of mammals, birds, fish and insects was kept by his family and displayed in glass cases for conservation purposes.
