Silver and vermeil embossed and chased monstrance, resting o - Lot 277
Silver and vermeil embossed and chased monstrance, resting on four lion-leg feet, the base edged with a frieze of acanthus leaves topped with a decoration depicting on the obverse the Lamb of the Apocalypse in vermeil, on the reverse a radiant book topped by a heart and on the sides vine shoots. The baluster shaft is decorated with leafy friezes, grapevines and ears of wheat, shouldered by two winged angels in the round, from which emerges a sheaf of wheat. The upper part receives the monstrance surrounded by a cloud of cherubs, itself surrounded by a radiant vermeil glory.
Mid-19th century, most probably Savoy.
