Bufflehead (Bucephala albeola) (CE): naturalized male specimen on wooden base with label underneath with old calligraphy stating "Bufflehead Albéole Duck Anas albeola, Bucephala et rustica; Sarcelle de la Louisiane dite La Religieuse; Cet exemplaire adulte mâle m'a été envoyé par M. Delesalle naturaliste à Paris en mai 1872"; naturalized before 1900. Species not listed in the Washington Convention (CITES), in European Community Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 and prior to the application of the French Environment Code. Specimen sold as is Expert : COMBREXELLE Michaël Former collection of Mr. Gardonne LEBRAULT (1881-1956), a butcher and caterer in Saint-Maixent-l'Ecole and a taxidermist in his spare time, a discipline he practiced from 1910 to 1950. In 1910, he had the opportunity to acquire an important collection of avian, mammalian and ichthyological specimens naturalized between 1845 and 1900, which are notably presented in this sale. He enriched his collection with other specimens naturalized between 1900 and 1953. On his death, his entire collection of mammals, birds, fish and insects was kept by his family and displayed in glass cases for conservation purposes.
