James BROWN (1951 -2020) Untitled Mixed media on blotting paper, signed and dated 1998 on the back 27.5 x 21.5 cm Unframed James Brown was born in Los Angeles in 1951. An American-born painter, sculptor, draughtsman and graphic designer, he now works between Paris and Oaxaca (Mexico). He reached the height of his fame in the 1980s with semi-figurative paintings akin to cave art. He has been exhibited in numerous galleries from the early 1980s to the present day, and several of his prints and paintings are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
