Louis ICART (1888-1950) Portrait of a Young Elegant Lady Watercolor and pencil, dedicated "To the friend Brazier, in memory of our meeting on the Front of Reims", signed and dated "April 1917" lower left 24.5 x 16.5 cm on view Minor brown spots The work is dedicated to a photographer friend of the artist, a certain Brazier, who was present at the front alongside him during the First World War. To help his friend cope with the difficult conditions of war, Icart depicts Brazier's smiling companion from two photographs he provided, attached to the back of the frame.
