To be compared with two studies by Jan Brueghel the Elder: Etudes d'oiseaux (private collection) and Etudes d'animaux, de chiens (panel, 34 x 21.5 cm in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna). Etudes d'oiseaux is a draft for his large composition, Le Paradis (Panel, 74 x 114 cm) in the Koninklijk Kabinet van Schilderijen, The Hague (see K/ Ertz, Jan Brueghel der Ältere; Lingen, 2008-2010, no. 194 and fig. 194/3).
