The Bestiary.
This bestiary engraved on linoleum by the drawing workshop of the College of Normandy (P. Bordes, J.-M. Chodan, A.-J. Lanoé, R. Ly-Cunh, B. Sérérian) under the artistic direction of Albert Gérard, layout and initials of Robert Hanesse, was printed on the presses of the Imprimerie Rouennaise, L. Bellanger, 30, rue de l'Hôpital, in Rouen. [About 1960]. In-folio (40 x 31,5 cm). In sheets, (32) pp : soft cardboard folder covered with cream rag paper illustrated with a continuous linoleum print of a tiger in black and brick.
Unique edition limited to 250 copies, under the direction of the painter Albert Gérard (1920-2011).
Student of André Charlier, he studied at the Grande Chaumière under Othon Frietz, a foundation bears his name.
Layout and initials of the painter Robert Hanesse (1920-1998), book artist and poster artist, also trained at the Grande Chaumière.
Rare meeting for a work of school achieved, engraved on linoleum, with extraordinary expressionist engravings. Twenty-six full-page linocuts in black, on a strong and beautiful paper, with the initial in sepia and a poetry in prose, from two to three lines, referring to the figured animal.
This amazing bestiary is not a child's work, or were they strongly helped by two great artists. Copy n° 190.
Unknown to all libraries, stain on the front cover, stain on the fourth cover and wear on the spine.
