[Manuscript] [Hospital history]. SALINS (Hugues de). Hospita - Lot 229
[Manuscript] [Hospital history]. SALINS (Hugues de). Hospital of Beaune. Register of prescriptions kept by Hugues de Salins, 1661-1663. Manuscript, in-4, 295 leaves written in ink on the r° and v°, bound in 19th century half-brown basane, four-ribbed spine, black title page, gilt fillets, all margins preserved.
Precious and important document written by the doctor Hugues de Salins, born in Beaune in 1632, died in Meursault in 1710, during his consultations. It contains nearly a thousand prescriptions given at the hospital in Beaune between 1661 and 1663. The manuscript is very legible, and the indications are very precise, as much on the nature of the drugs and their quantity, as on the way to prepare them. Although the name of the patient is rarely given, the origin or profession sometimes appears: "to the maid of Mr. Moreau; for a little boy from Savigny; for a nail maker from Verdun, etc.". The doctor's signature very often appears after the prescription.
Provenance: Bizouard de Montille, a soldier born in Beaune in 1828 (engraved armorial bookplate).
A document on parchment, accompanied by a seal, signed by Jean Varandé, professor of medicine in Montpellier, dated 1615 (?), in the name of Hugues de Salins, who is probably the father of the writer of this manuscript.
That is to say 1 volume and 1 archival document.
