[Manuscript]. [Recipes]. Collection of several very useful recipes. 18th century. In-18 (h = 14,5 cm.), contemporary brown speckled calf, spine with 5 nerves and mute, decorated caissons, gilt roulette on the edges, marbled edges, head cover restored (nerves a little rubbed).
Neat manuscript, written in ink on 68 numbered pages, with at the end a table covering 4 unnumbered pages. It describes recipes of all kinds, for medical as well as gastronomic or technical use: Eau dite de Vilars, Eau rouge composée de simples, Remède des 4 voleurs pour la peste, recettes contre le scorbut, la jaunisse, l'inflammation des yeux, Recette pour faire la gelée de viande, le sirop d'orgeat, le ratafiat de coings ou de fleurs d'orange, les oranges confites, Omelette très-excellente mais aussi, Recette pour faire de l'encre, Recette pour noircir et donner du lustre au maroquin noir, etc.
Small engraved and coloured ornaments are glued to the v° of the title page. A modern hand mentions on a guard the name of Françoise Gabrielle de Froullay de Tessé, abbess of Caen in 1698, who may have written this manuscript.
