Histoire générale de Normandie, contenant les choses mémorables advenues depuis les premières courses des Normands païens, tant en France qu'aux autres pays... jusquques à la réunion de la Normandie à la couronne de France. In Rouen, with J. Osmont, 1631. Three parts in a folio volume, [6] f., 56-564-52 p., [22] f. (table), pl., contemporary granulated havana calf, spine with 5 nerves, brown title-piece, ornamented caissons (some rubbing, uncovered headpieces, dull corners; some very moderate russetting). First edition of this important and uncommon work. The first part contains a Discourse on Normandy including tables in the text detailing the administrative organization of the province. It is followed by a typographed plate giving the genealogy of the dukes of Normandy. The last part contains a Catalogue of the Lords of Normandy. Title in red and black with the arms of Normandy engraved on copper, woodcut headbands, endpapers and initials. (Brother I, 402). Signature crossed out on title, bibliogr. annot. on one endpaper. Provenance: Pierre-Louis Jacops d'Hailly, 1669-1738, from Lille, adviser to the Parliament of Flanders (engraved armorial bookplate).
