DUJARDIN (François), PERHILE (Bernard). History of surgery from its origin to our days. A Paris, de l'Imprimerie royale, 1774-1780. 2 vols. in-4, XIX-528 XXIX + XVI-794-XXXVIII p., pl., contemporary speckled tan basane, spine ribbed and decorated, black and tan title-pieces, marbled edges (headpieces torn off, corners worn; tear in margin p. VII, small worms' tract in margin of the first 20 f. of t.2 then negligible pitting, rare russ.) These two volumes bring together all that has appeared of this unfinished work, which deals with medicine in antiquity, and Chinese and Japanese medicine. It is illustrated with 4 copper-engraved plates showing acupuncture points and moxa application. Provenance: F.-Em. Boutineau, pharmacist in Tours, 1900 (etiquette bookplate).
