[Dieppe]. ASSELINE (David). Les antiquitez et chroniques de la ville de Dieppe published for the first time Dieppe, Maris, Leblanc ; Paris, Maisonneuve, Rouen, Métterie, 1874. Two large volumes in-8, half red morocco with corners, spine with 5 nerves, author, title, tomaison and date gilt, gilt numeral at the end, head gilt [Petit] (snags repaired at a headpiece and a nerve, corners a little crushed).
First edition of this work composed in the 17th century by a Norman priest.
Prestigious provenance: it is the copy of Philippe d'Orléans (1828-1894), Count of Paris (monogrammed bookplate stamped on the false-titles, and gilt monogram on the tail of the spines). The count of Paris was the owner of the castle of Eu, which he entrusted to Viollet-Le-Duc from 1874.
Unjustified copy on strong laid paper, perfectly established by Charles Petit, Simier's successor, who kept all its margins.
