[Binding]. Set of 2 volumes bound in early 18th century lace morocco:
- De l'Imitation de Jésus-Christ, Traduction nouvelle. By the sieur de Beüil, prior of Saint-Val. New edition. In Paris, by G. Desprez & J. Desessartz, 1719. In-8, 614 p., 5 plates, contemporary red morocco, spine with 5 nerves, gilt title, decorated boxes with small irons, double fillet and large gilt lace bordering the boards, gilt roulette on the edges of the spines and the back covers, these covered with blue satin, double paper guards with gold-painted border, edges gilt on marble (spine faded, corners dull, head cap earasened, the other uncovered, russeting).
Edition illustrated with 5 copper-engraved plates, unsigned, which are copies of those engraved for the previous editions: by Karl Audran after Lubin Baugin for the frontispiece and books I, III, IV, and by Abraham Bosse after Philippe de Champaigne, for book II. A carefully bound copy, the engravings of which have been framed with a gold painted fillet.
- BIBLE. French. 1739]. La Sainte Bible, translated in Cologne, at the expense of the Company, 1739. In-12, [1] f. (title), IV-884 p., green morocco, spine with 5 nerves, fawn title-piece, decorated caissons, double fillet, roulette and fine lace edging the boards, all gilt, gilt fillet at the edges, roulette at the counterplates, gilt edges (spine browned, 2 corners dull and one rubbed).
The illustrated title is engraved on copper by P. Yver after B. Picart.
