In trompe-l'oeil, circa 1770-1780 Folded fan, double sheet of gouache wallpaper. Ivory frame pierced, plumes pierced and carved. H.t 28,5 cm- H.f. 13,7 cm (TBE small missing one strand) On a brown and black lacquered effect background, several cartels are placed. In the center, the most important one hosts an animated scene of characters in a garden in the Chinese taste. On the right, a rhombus is painted with three birds near a branch; while on the left, two trompe-l'oeil are associated: a circular blue and white porcelain dish decorated with pagodas and rivers; and a painting on a background of wood veins bringing together various objects including a vase surmounted by a branch of coral, and a fan. On the reverse, on iridescent white paper, a rock, peonies and cherry branches. The throat is punctuated by three cartels painted in Chinese style showing a bird on either side of a garden scene.
