[CAJOT (Joseph)]. Praise the donkey. By a doctor from Montmartre. In London, and is in Paris, at Delaguette's, 1769. In-12, [1] f., II-259 p., period speckled havana basane, spine with 5 nerves, title coin basane grenat, decorated boxes, gilt fillets in the cups, red slices (a blunt corner, small lacks of paper in the margin of 5 ff.). First edition of this curious satirical work, attributed to a Benedictine of the congregation of Saint Vanne and Saint Hydulphe, Joseph Cajot (1726-1779), and presented under the auspices of the Academy of Montmartre, a fictitious society attached to the criticism of ignorance and foolishness (Dinaux, Sociétés badines, II, 68).
